Tonight we walked just over a mile to the nearest night market: Shi-Da. For under 9 dollars total, we all filled our bellies with octupus balls with seaweed, dumplings, Dan bing (pancake), and bubble tea.
The dumpling making was a family affair. It seemed like the mom and grandma folded the dumplings, the dad cooked, and the daughter took payment in a smooth and quick flow - 50NT (less than $2USD) for a bag full.
The octopus ball stand moved even quicker. Using a stick to rotate the balls as they cooked. Extremely hot (burners and weather) and seemingly no sweat.
A neighboring park offered a spot to sit down and enjoy our snacks. We used to be unsure what stall to go to at the markets, but now we know to trust the crowd and get in whatever line is longest. - Kim
